Job Summary:
Our esteemed engineering firm is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Design Engineer with a specialization in Mechanical Airbag Systems for a full-time role in Casa Grande, Arizona. This role encompasses the design, development, and testing of mechanical products, particularly focusing on airbag systems for automotive applications. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the safety features of our vehicles, contributing to the engineering and testing necessary for our airbags to effectively protect our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, design, develop, and test mechanical devices, focusing on airbag systems for automotive safety.
- Collaborate with the team to analyze customer design proposals and specifications to assess project feasibility regarding time and cost.
- Assist drafters in developing structural design using advanced engineering tools and software.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics for effective product development.
- Engage in continuous learning and adaptation to the company's approach, prioritizing engineering judgment and maintaining a comprehensive development history.
Must-have Skills:
- Proficient with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
- Strong ability to analyze, solve problems, and communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Proven experience in mechanical product development and an understanding of engineering software relevant to the field.
Domain Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BSME or similar) is mandatory, with relevant certifications as deemed appropriate.
- Minimum 7 years of overall experience in engineering, with 3 years specifically in Airbag Design, at least 1 year in Curtain Airbag Design, and 3-5 years with OEM and/or Tier 1 automotive suppliers.
This role demands a candidate who can work 100% onsite in Casa Grande, Arizona, with expected travel to Newark, CA and Southfield, MI for particular projects. The ideal candidate will bring a collaborative spirit, a detail-oriented approach, and a strong background in mechanical engineering designs, specifically within automotive restraints design and engineering.
