Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Energy Risk Analyst to support Power Operations Risk Management in a rapidly evolving western energy market. This role focuses on quantitative risk analysis, production reporting, and model development to help leadership assess trading exposures, manage risk, and make data-driven decisions across power, gas, and renewable portfolios.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Power Operations Risk Management through reporting, risk analysis, and model validation/enhancement
- Run and maintain End-of-Day production reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Analyze trading risk limits, exposures, and portfolio performance
- Develop and support quantitative models for structured energy products (PPAs, tolling, derivatives, etc.)
- Apply and interpret risk metrics (VaR, MtM, GMaR) for decision-making
- Troubleshoot reporting systems and recommend process improvements
- Provide analytical insights to trading, portfolio, and finance teams
- Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders, including senior leadership
Must-Have Skills:
- Strong experience in energy risk management (power/gas markets)
- Hands-on experience with ION Endur (ETRM system)
- Expertise in quantitative analysis, risk modeling, and financial concepts (VaR, MtM)
- Advanced skills in Excel, VBA, Python, and data visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau)
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and translate complex data into actionable insights
Industry Experience:
- 8 years of experience in energy markets, risk analytics, or quantitative roles
- Background in utilities, power trading, natural gas, or renewables (required)
- Experience with production cost modeling, structured energy products, and trading environments preferred
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering
