Akkodis is seeking a General Assembly Station Design Engineer for our Contract Position (12 Months) role with our client in Belvidere, IL.
Pay Range: $35/hr. to $42/hr. on w2. (The pay may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)

General Assembly Station Design Engineer – Roles and Responsibilities
1. Workstation Design & Layout
Design and develop operator-friendly workstations for assembly lines
Create station layouts, tooling placement, and material flow for GA shops
Ensure ergonomic, safe, and efficient workstation setup
2. Support New Vehicle Launch (Program Launch)
Prepare assembly stations for new vehicle/program launches
Work with launch teams to ensure smooth vertical launch execution
Align station design with product requirements & build sequence
3. Line Balancing & Man Assignment
Perform line balancing to optimize cycle time
Define operator work allocation (man assignments)
Minimize disruptions to existing production systems
4. Process Optimization & Efficiency Improvement
Optimize workstation layout for:
Productivity
Cycle time
Operator efficiency
Reduce waste and improve manufacturing flow
Apply Engineering Standard Time (EST) concepts
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with:
Industrial Engineers
Manufacturing / Plant teams
Quality & Product Engineering
Logistics & Safety/Ergonomics teams
To ensure:
All launch KPIs are met
Stations meet quality, safety, and production targets
6. Workplace Integration (WPI)
Support Work Place Integration (WPI) activities
Combine different elements of launch (process, tooling, manpower)
Ensure end-to-end station readiness for production
7. Tools & Technical Work
Use tools like:
AutoCAD / Teamcenter / Digital Manufacturing tools
Create:
Layout drawings
Process sheets
Standard work documentation
8. Validation & Continuous Improvement
Participate in:
Pilot builds
Tryouts and validation runs
Identify and resolve:
Bottlenecks
Ergonomic issues
Quality concerns
9. Cost & Productivity Analysis
Analyze:
Labor utilization
Production cost impacts
Recommend improvements for cost reduction and efficiency gain
Key Skills Required
Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering knowledge
GA (General Assembly) experience
Line balancing & time study (MODAPTS / EST)
Ergonomics & workstation design
