Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage the engineering team, setting goals and overseeing performance in engineering, plant performance, O&M support, safety/environmental compliance, and IT/DCS systems.
• Oversee capital projects and major maintenance: define scope, budgets, schedules, and vendor/contractor performance.
• Analyze plant performance, equipment issues, and breakdowns; lead root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Support predictive and preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
• Maintain technical documentation including plant drawings, testing data, performance records, and water chemistry.
• Provide input into budgets, track engineering expenditures, and ensure cost control.
• Collaborate with plant leadership and corporate engineering to improve plant availability, safety, thermal efficiency, and environmental compliance.
• Act as primary technical contact for insurance, vendor relations, and contractor oversight.
• Ensure IT and DCS systems are maintained, upgraded, and supported without impacting operations.
• Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across plant operations.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required).
• Minimum 10 years of relevant power plant engineering/operations experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of power plant operations, O&M practices, control systems, and water treatment/chemistry.
• Experience with budgets, contracts, bid evaluations, and vendor management.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills; ability to motivate and manage technical teams.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Connecticut preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office and plant control/IT systems.
