Position Summary

Airworx is seeking a dependable and motivated HVAC Installer to join our installation team. This position is primarily focused on commercial HVAC installation, including new construction, tenant improvements, multifamily projects, equipment replacement, and other commercial projects. Some residential work may be required as needed.

The HVAC Installer works under the direction of a Lead Installer or Project Manager and is responsible for completing assigned installation work safely, efficiently, and according to Airworx standards, project plans, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes.

This position requires someone who can work with a team, follow direction, take ownership of assigned tasks, and continually develop their HVAC skills.

Primary Responsibilities

* Assist with and perform installation of commercial HVAC systems and equipment.

* Install air handlers, heat pumps, condensers, package units, furnaces, exhaust equipment, and other HVAC equipment as assigned.

* Install and assemble sheet metal and duct systems, including round pipe, rectangular duct, spiral duct, fittings, transitions, takeoffs, dampers, boots, grilles, registers, and diffusers.

* Install flex duct and properly support, seal, and insulate duct systems.

* Install refrigerant piping, condensate drains, equipment supports, line-hide, and other associated HVAC components.

* Assist with equipment setting, rigging, staging, and material handling.

* Perform HVAC rough-in, equipment installation, trim-out, and punch-list work.

* Read and follow mechanical plans, equipment schedules, specifications, submittals, and installation instructions appropriate to experience level.

* Lay out work based on plans and direction from the Lead Installer or Project Manager.

* Coordinate work around other trades and communicate conflicts or installation problems before proceeding.

* Maintain proper workmanship and appearance of completed installations.

* Keep assigned work areas organized and remove trash and unused materials.

* Properly use and maintain company tools and equipment.

* Track materials and notify the Lead Installer when additional material is needed.

* Take required jobsite photos and document completed work when requested.

* Follow OSHA requirements, jobsite safety rules, and Airworx safety procedures.

* Follow Airworx installation procedures, checklists, and SOPs.

* Communicate mistakes, damaged materials, missing equipment, plan conflicts, and other problems immediately rather than hiding or working around them.

* Complete assigned work within established project schedules and labor-hour expectations.

* Assist other installers and tradesmen when necessary to keep projects moving.

* Represent Airworx professionally with customers, general contractors, vendors, inspectors, and other trades.

Minimum Qualifications

* At least 1 year of HVAC installation or related construction experience preferred.

* Commercial HVAC or commercial construction experience preferred.

* EPA Universal Certification preferred.

* Basic understanding of HVAC systems, ductwork, tools, and installation practices.

* Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic construction measurements and calculations.

* Ability to safely operate common HVAC and construction tools.

* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

* Ability to work from ladders, lifts, rooftops, crawlspaces, attics, and other typical HVAC work environments.

* Ability to lift and carry HVAC equipment, materials, tools, and ductwork.

* Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record preferred.

* Reliable attendance and transportation.

* Willingness to learn and accept instruction and correction.

Preferred Skills

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

* Commercial duct installation

* Spiral and rectangular ductwork

* Blueprint and mechanical-plan reading

* Refrigerant piping

* Brazing

* Pressure testing and evacuation

* Condensate piping

* Equipment setting

* RTUs and split systems

* Heat pumps and air handlers

* VRF/mini-split systems

* Sheet metal fabrication

* Scissor lifts and boom lifts

* Commercial new construction

* Multifamily HVAC installation

* Start-up and commissioning assistance

* Communicates well with the Lead Installer and Project Manager.

* Learns from correction instead of repeatedly making the same mistake.

* Understands that completing the job correctly is everyone’s responsibility.

* Develops the skills necessary to eventually work independently and advance into a Lead Installer position.

Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and working overhead. Employees must be able to safely lift and move HVAC materials and equipment and work in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Commercial HVAC work may require working from ladders, rooftops, scaffolding, scissor lifts, boom lifts, mechanical rooms, crawlspaces, attics, and active construction sites.

At Airworx, installers are expected to balance quality, productivity, and accountability.

Doing the job fast but incorrectly is not acceptable. Doing excellent work while consistently exceeding reasonable labor expectations is also not sustainable. Our goal is to complete installations correctly, safely, efficiently, and professionally the first time.

Every installer is expected to take ownership of his work and contribute to the success of the entire installation team.
