JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, independently sets-up and operates one or more pieces of equipment to meet production requirements. Observes all safety regulations including the use of personal protective equipment applicable to the use of electrical tooling and equipment, the use of heavy equipment and machinery, and the use of chemicals.
Demonstrates and maintains competency, productivity, and quality levels on complex machining operations. Operates multiple pieces of equipment in one or more functional areas.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reads, understands, and follows all available documentation including material lists, work instructions, prints, schedules etc. in the performance of all tasks.
Determines part requirements for scheduled jobs – procuring materials and verifying parts are correct.
Sets up machinery and equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Inspects machinery, equipment and tooling for damage and wear prior to use. Signs off start up logs where required.
Communicates with Supervisor and Engineering to evaluate, adjust and document new programs, operating parameters and tooling.
Able to clear machine jams and malfunctions and reset equipment.
Adjusts machine settings and programs to complete tasks accurately.
Monitors machine and equipment output to identify machine related errors or flaws.
Inspects completed product and places in bins, boxes, carts, racks etc.
Labels completed product appropriately.
Assists in training Machine Operator I and II personnel.
Able to assist Engineering with samples and pre-production pilot.
Suggests process improvements to improve efficiency and quality of products.
Completes required paperwork, maintaining accurate inventory counts, test records and other documentation.
Maintains production levels at or above company/departmental goals with minimum indirect time.
Dispositions rejected product to appropriate areas.
Maintains clean and orderly machines and general work areas.
Reports equipment malfunction to supervisor or maintenance.
Interacts positively with co-workers and leadership team.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school education or equivalent background. Typically, 3 years work experience operating production machinery. High school level math skills. Able to read, comprehend and follow all documentation. Able to use precision measuring instruments such as rulers, digital timers, calipers, micrometers, etc. Able to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and programmable problems. Able to apply print dimensions to machine programs. Able to lift up to 50lbs and stand while performing duties. Good visual acuity, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.
