The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is hiring a Supervisory School Age Care Program Coordinator, GS-1701-10, at Joint Base San Antonio – Randolph, San Antonio, TX.
Primary Purpose of the Position The Supervisory School Age Care Program Coordinator serves as a first‑level supervisor overseeing the daily and long‑range operation of a comprehensive School Age Care program for youth ages 5–12. According to the position description, the coordinator: Plans, develops, organizes, and oversees the long‑range and day‑to‑day operation of a comprehensive school‑age child care program, including before and after school care, full day care/camp, and school holiday care/camp. You will lead program staff, ensure compliance with DoD and Air Force standards, maintain national accreditation, manage budgets, and create an environment where children thrive and families feel supported.
Salary Range is $63,708 - $82,824 based on experience.

- A bachelor's degree (or higher) in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. (For this Air Force position, qualifying fields include: child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education).
- Professional knowledge of child and youth development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development of children and youth.
- Knowledge of DoD certification, Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), 4-H, and Council on Accreditation (COA) standards.
- Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures including National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Food Services regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and requirements, and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Playground guidelines
- Skill in compiling and composing both quantitative and narrative reports, based on analyzing data and circumstances.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to large sized organization.
