The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is hiring a Supervisory Youth Program Specialist (Assistant Flight Chief), GS-1701-12, at Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland, San Antonio, TX.

Primary Purpose of the Position: Serves as the Assistant Flight Chief and second-in-command of the Child and Youth Services Flight, providing direct oversight of School Age and Youth Programs. Plans, directs, and evaluates youth development programs; supervises Senior Leader Program Managers and program staff; manages appropriated and nonappropriated fund budgets; ensures compliance with DoD, Air Force, and national accreditation standards; builds community partnerships with military families and installation leadership; and ensures continuity of care during contingency operations.

Salary Range is $90,823 – $118,072 based on experience.

Requirements for This Position

  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. (For this Air Force position, qualifying fields include: child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education).
  • Knowledge of youth development principles, practices, and program management sufficient to plan, direct, and evaluate multi-site youth programs
  • Knowledge of DoD, Air Force, and national accreditation standards applicable to Child and Youth Services programs
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop a diverse workforce of program managers and youth development professionals
  • Ability to manage budgets supporting large-scale program operations
  • Knowledge of safety, health, and regulatory compliance requirements for youth program environments Ready to Apply?
