The primary purpose of this position serves as a mid-level Communications Security (COMSEC) specialist and IT operations professional. The incumbent will serve as the COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO) while supporting cybersecurity, systems administration, and technical support activities across the ICBM enterprise.
DUTIES:
- Serves as the COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO), managing COMSEC material lifecycle including receipt, inventory, storage, distribution, and destruction of cryptographic and keying material using KMI.
- Ensures compliance with NSA, DoD, and Air Force COMSEC regulations and conducts audits of COMSEC accounts and materials.
- Recognizes and reports COMSEC or cybersecurity incidents and manages corrective actions.
- Provides cybersecurity support by implementing and evaluating NIST 800-53 controls and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
- Advises stakeholders on risk levels, system security posture, and operational impacts of vulnerabilities.
- Installs, configures, and maintains hardware, software, and peripheral IT systems.
- Diagnoses and resolves system issues and customer-reported incidents.
- Administers user accounts, access, and permissions across IT systems.
- Monitors system performance and analyzes system data to identify trends and improvements.
- Prepares and delivers technical briefings and documentation to leadership and stakeholders.
- 3–7 years of experience in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, COMSEC, or System Administration.
- Experience managing COMSEC accounts, cryptographic equipment (SKL, KIV, TACLANE), and Key Management Infrastructure (KMI).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and network security methodologies.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and system performance issues.
- Ability to analyze systems, evaluate risks, and recommend technical solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for briefings and reports.
- Knowledge of IT system lifecycle, enterprise architecture, and operational support practices.
- U.S. CITIZENSHIP
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- Must meet DoDM 8140.03 qualification requirements within required timeframe.
