Summary

The Human Resources Operation Manager is a key leadership role that is responsible for ensuring innovative, efficient, and accurate delivery of Human Resources services to Ahtna and its family of companies. The Human Resources Operations Manager leads a Recruitment, Business Partner and Compensation team that directly works with senior leadership in a shared service model. As part of the HR Leadership team, the HR Ops Manager will partner with other HR managers to set the strategic direction of the HR department to promote client operations and satisfaction.

The salary range for this position is $111,481-$139,351/year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plays an active role in the planning, development, and implementation of Human Resources Management strategies.
  • Directly accountable for leading and managing human resources functions: position announcements, recruitments and screening, orientation, discipline, grievance review, counseling, terminations, salary and conditions, employee agreements, quality management and other Human Resources services.
  • Directly responsible for Ahtna’s compensation, incentive, and pay programs.
  • Assists with succession planning, morale and motivation, culture and attitudinal development, and performance appraisals.
  • Collaborates with leaders to ensure employee handbooks, policies, procedures, practices, and employee documents are compliant and up to date.
  • Assists with the administration of the performance management system and annual review process.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership on new employee orientation that promotes the Ahtna culture and alignment with the organization’s objectives.
  • Implement and ensure appropriate systems for monitoring and measuring human resources operations to ensure timely and quality delivery of services.
  • Coordinate with other functional/department leaders to understand all necessary aspects and needs of human resources development, and to ensure alignment with human resources objectives, purposes and achievements.
  • Advise leaders on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity, sexual harassment, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Acts as the EEO Compliance Officer for the company and ensures compliance with EEO and affirmative action legislation.
  • Serves as a liaison between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems.
  • Travel required to shareholder communities, subsidiary offices and other locations as needed (5%-10%).
  • Observes safety procedures and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision

A team of HR Business Partners, an HR Associate, and a Recruiter.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science in human resource management or related degree.
    • Experience may be substituted for education on a 1:1 basis.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in human resources management.
  • Must have proven experience with human resources functions associated with an organization with multiple office sites.
  • Knowledge of principals and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
  • Knowledge of business and management principals involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules as they relate to Human Resources. Including but not limited to: ACA, ADA, EEOC, Davis Bacon Act, FLSA, FMLA, OFCCP, Service Contract Act, Title VII, USERRA and worker’s compensation.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, with advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Data Base applications, and Human Resource Information Systems software.
  • Proven ability to work and communicate effectively with employees and management teams.
  • Demonstrated contribution to innovation of the creation of policies and procedures that facilitate best practice management applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate several activities at once, quickly analyze and resolve specific problems, and cope with deadlines effectively.Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP certification.
  • Master’s degree
  • CostPoint experience
  • UKG Pro experience
  • Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures

Physical Demands

Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 4 hours; occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Work performed in a professional office setting utilizing telephone, computer and other office equipment.
