Hire for Fleet Specialist is responsible to lead Fresh and Dry Inbound/Backhaul organization focused on reducing net landed cost by developing strategic partnerships with suppliers, carriers, and 3rd party providers. Create new synergistic moves utilizing internal fleets, common carriers, and intermodal transportation. Create and maintain pipeline of new business opportunities consistent with overall SC Logistics strategy. Develop project plans and facilitate larger inbound projects. Function as a subject matter expert for large scale company initiatives.
Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days.

Essential Duties:
1. Vendor Management: Enforce charges, review progress, work directly with carriers to ensure progress is made in a tangible measurable format
2. Leadership: Lead the organization to support the implementation of the Supply Chain Strategy controlling the flow of product from the vendors to the distribution centers and stores
3. Relationship Management: Develop strategic partnerships with vendors, carriers, and 3rd party logistics companies
4. Contract Management: Review out of date contracts, contact companies directly dealing with executive level staff to update and revise outstanding issues
5. Project Management: Directly manage large scale logistics projects and act as the lead to facilitate and implement change
6. New Business: Increase cost savings to company in a sustainable manner
Organizational context: This is a specialist role that is a key member of the inbound transportation team that discovers/seeks out new revenue streams on inbound to reduce our COGS for all divisions and merchandising teams. Acts as the SME on strategic projects that have a transportation component for both AD departments and divisions.
Framework & guidelines: This role is the only position that actively seeks out new transportation business with our vendors and carriers. They provide the due diligence and analysis that onboards new business that will drive down costs for our divisions, stores, and customers. This position also controls the produce inbound bid that drives margin improvement to the merchant team via effective cost controls.
Financial dimension: This role provides P&L analysis and business case development for new revenue and continuous moves that drive costs down and creates revenue for the divisions and merchants P&L. Provides transportation contractual due diligence, negotiations, and adherence.
Degree of latitude: This position has a degree of latitude to seek out new business, negotiate contracts, and create business cases that support the AUSA/division goals to improve costs, and service/freshness.
Interactions and relationships: This role interacts with supply chain leadership, finance, divisions, merchandising, procurement, and vendors/carriers. Creates the business case, and achieves consensus among the group for new revenue, cost controls or continuous moves on our inbound fleets/third party carriers.

- Manage vendor allowance matrices, carrier contracts, and carrier rates. Ensure proper procedures are in place to allow quick execution of contracts and on-boarding of carriers.
- Monitor vendor in compliance program. Enforce charges, review progress, collaborate directly with carriers to ensure progress is made in a tangible measurable format.
- Manage Logistics system vendor relationship. Audit payments, carriers tendered loads, and selection of carriers. Spot audits will be performed periodically and communicated to the team and Logistics system provider.

- Lead a best-in-class inbound logistics organization for Fresh and Dry product distribution including all facets ofinbound logistics, facilitate strategic alliances with suppliers, and internally that will drive service and cost improvements.
