Revenue Accountant - Billing Oversight

Job Overview

The Revenue Accountant – Billing Oversight is responsible for supporting the company’s revenue accounting function, ensuring accurate recognition of revenue in compliance with accounting standards, internal policies and procedures. This role works closely with accounting, billing, and finance teams to reconcile revenue transactions, prepare journal entries, and support month-end close activities. Additionally, this role will have direct oversight for the Billing team located in Mexico.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day revenue accounting activities, including contract review, billing reconciliation, and revenue recognition.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to revenue, deferrals, and adjustments.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly close activities, including account reconciliations and revenue reporting.
• Monitor completeness, accuracy and timeliness of customer invoicing by the Billing team located in Mexico.
• Partner with the Billing and Collections teams to ensure accurate invoices and resolve discrepancies.
• Oversee billing team performance and provide feedback to the team as well as to management.
• Assist with annual audit requests and provide supporting schedules as needed.
• Ensure financial information is recorded in accordance with GAAP and established Company policies and procedures.
• Identify process improvements within the revenue accounting and billing functions.

Skills/Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 3-6 years’ experience preferably in revenue accounting, with billing experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Process-oriented and systems-savvy; comfortable driving automation and change.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft excel, experience with ERP systems a plus.
• Strong knowledge and experience applying the use of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Internal Controls

• Document and follow relevant internal controls over financial reporting.
• Directly assist subsidiaries and other departments to document and adhere to relevant internal controls over financial reporting for their respective functions.
