River Point Farms is hiring Customer Assisted Inspection Program (CAIP) Graders to join our onion process plant team!

Summary:

The CAIP Grader inspects and grades onions to ensure they meet federal, state, and customer quality standards. This role involves collecting samples, evaluating product quality, and completing accurate inspection reports. The grader is trained on the job and must become knowledgeable in grading standards and inspection procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive daily assignments and instructions from the QA or FSQA Supervisor.
  • Collect and select onion samples from trucks, storage, or containers for inspection.
  • Inspect and grade onions based on size, quality, condition, and defects using standard grading tools.
  • Follow federal, state, and customer standards when grading product for shipment or processing.
  • Record inspection results clearly and complete required reports or grade certificates.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and meets legal and company requirements.
  • Report any food safety concerns to a supervisor immediately.
  • Assist with sampling and other inspection-related tasks as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Basic computer skills (data entry and simple documents).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • Employees may regularly encounter wet or slippery surfaces, dust, and fluctuating temperatures, including hot and cold conditions typical of agricultural processing facilities.
  • Occasional work at heights or in confined or elevated locations may be required, with potential exposure to electrical or mechanical hazards.
  • Periodic exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals used in processing, cleaning, or maintenance activities.
  • Noise levels are often high and may require the use of hearing protection.
  • Work hours may vary based on and may include day, night, weekend, holiday, or extended shifts to support continuous operations.
  • Travel by vehicle may be required for other company facilities, suppliers, or operational sites.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hard hats, safety footwear, hearing protection, and protective clothing will be provided in accordance with applicable laws and company policy. Employees are required to wear designated PPE when tasks or work areas require it; compliance with PPE requirements is mandatory.
