What are the responsibilities and job description for the System Engineer position at Agility Partners?
Agility Partners is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer! This role will play a critical part in a large-scale modernization initiative focused on reverse engineering legacy applications and transforming existing system artifacts into comprehensive technical requirements, verification strategies, and traceability documentation.
This is an ideal opportunity for a systems engineering professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving engineering processes, and bringing structure to highly technical environments. Rather than building new systems from scratch, you'll analyze legacy applications, source code, user interviews, and existing documentation to identify missing requirements, establish traceability, and create the foundation for future development and testing efforts.
What You'll Be Doing
- Reverse engineer legacy applications, source code, and technical artifacts to identify and document complete system requirements.
- Develop structured requirements, verification plans, data validation documentation, and end-to-end testing strategies.
- Manage requirements, traceability, and documentation within IBM DOORS Next Generation (DOORS NG).
- Partner with engineers, developers, architects, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and eliminate ambiguity.
- Create detailed test planning and validation approaches with a focus on strategy and documentation rather than execution.
- Support enterprise modernization efforts by improving systems engineering processes and requirements management practices.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive traceability between requirements, design artifacts, and verification activities.
What We're Looking For
- 10 years of Systems Engineering experience.
- Strong background in Requirements Engineering, Verification & Validation (V&V), and Systems Lifecycle Management.
- Hands-on experience with IBM DOORS Next Generation (DOORS NG) or similar requirements management tools.
- Proven experience reverse engineering requirements from source code, technical documentation, user interviews, and legacy systems.
- Experience creating test plans, validation strategies, and data validation documentation.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, ArchiMate, or similar platforms.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- CSEP certification is a plus.
- Experience using AI tools to accelerate requirements analysis and reverse engineering efforts is a plus.
Why You'll Love This Opportunity
- Contribute to the modernization of critical energy infrastructure systems.
- Work on complex, large-scale enterprise initiatives with long-term impact.
- Focus on systems thinking, requirements quality, traceability, and engineering excellence.
- Collaborate with experienced technical teams in a highly visible role.
- Help establish and improve best practices for enterprise requirements management and systems engineering.
