Quality Assurance Inspector – Aerospace Manufacturing / FAA Part 145 Repair Station

Position Title: Quality Assurance Inspector
Location: Gar Kenyon and AGC
Department: Quality
Reports To: Director of Quality

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for performing inspections and evaluations of aerospace components, assemblies, and documentation to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality procedures. This role supports both manufacturing and FAA Part 145 repair station operations, ensuring airworthiness and adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Verification

  • Perform incoming, in‑process, and final inspections on aerospace parts, assemblies, and repairs in accordance with company procedures, engineering drawings, and technical data.
  • Verify compliance with FAA regulations, including 14 CFR Part 43, Part 65, and Part 145 requirements.
  • Conduct detailed visual and dimensional inspections using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, borescopes, and other measuring equipment.
  • Review and validate work orders, repair documentation, certifications, and traceability.

Documentation & Recordkeeping

  • Complete all inspection documentation accurately, including inspection reports, and nonconformance records.
  • Ensure proper completion of FAA forms such as 8130‑3 Airworthiness Approval Tags, where authorized.
  • Maintain organized, compliant quality records in accordance with AS9100, FAA, and company retention policies.

Nonconformance & Corrective Action

  • Identify, document, and report nonconforming materials or processes.
  • Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities and assist in evaluating disposition recommendations.

Regulatory & Standards Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to:
  • FAA Part 145 Repair Station Manual (RSM)
  • Quality Control Manual (QCM)
  • AS9100 / ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
  • Customer and OEM specifications
  • Participate in internal audits, FAA audits, and customer audits as needed.

General Duties

  • Maintain calibration verification of inspection tools and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with production, engineering, and management teams.
  • Uphold safety standards and contribute to a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of inspection experience in aerospace manufacturing or FAA repair station environment.
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations, aerospace documentation, and airworthiness requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and OEM specifications.
  • Proficiency using precision measurement tools and inspection equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an AS9100‑certified environment.
  • Experience reviewing FAA 8130‑3 forms.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for documentation and traceability.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Certification in GD&T, NDT, or inspection methodologies.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Perform detailed visual inspections with or without corrective lenses.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and repair station environment with exposure to moving machinery, chemicals, and shop noise.
  • Requires adherence to all PPE and safety guidelines.
