Overview
The Aerospace Expeditor is responsible for ensuring the timely flow of materials, components, documentation, and work orders throughout the manufacturing process. This role coordinates with production, purchasing, planning, quality, engineering, suppliers, and shipping to resolve delays, maintain production schedules, and support on-time delivery while complying with aerospace quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor production schedules and prioritize jobs to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Expedite materials, parts, tooling, and documentation to support manufacturing operations.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Production Planning, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and suppliers to resolve shortages and schedule conflicts.
- Track work orders through each stage of production and identify bottlenecks.
- Follow up on overdue purchase orders and supplier deliveries.
- Communicate production status, delays, and recovery plans to management.
- Maintain accurate inventory and production records in ERP/MRP systems.
- Verify that all required documentation, certifications, and inspection records accompany products.
- Assist in scheduling inspections, testing, and shipping activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve material flow and production efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and aerospace industry standards, including AS9100 requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing, production control, expediting, logistics, or supply chain, preferably in the aerospace industry.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Understanding of production planning, inventory control, and supply chain processes.
