We are seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to lead the development of new aerospace metal and composite parts. The successful candidate will manage tooling development, prototype parts and the complete design transfer to production. They will be responsible for partnering with customers and leading a cross functional team to ensure new products meet design requirements as well as program delivery commitments.

Job Description

  • Project Manage the development of new metal and composite aerospace components.
  • Create 3D models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation using CAD software.
  • Act as primary customer interface throughout the development process.
  • Coordinate with engineering in the design of necessary tooling, fixturing, documentation and cost estimating.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to ensure manufacturing documentation (Work Instructions, Routers and labor estimates) are established to ensure a successful design transfer.
  • Develop a robust inspection process through coordination with the Quality Engineering team.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and product certification activities.
  • Investigate design issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical presentations.
  • Maintain accurate records of design changes and engineering documentation.
  • Ensure manufacturability of new products during production transfer process. Assist with creation of flow charts, PFMEA’s and product control plans.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Engineering with a minimum of (5) years of experience working in a dynamic high paced environment.
  • Must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills
  • Must possess strong mechanical troubleshooting ability
  • Must have experience creating and reading design drawings and interpreting GD&T to the ASME Y14.5 standard.
  • Experience with Solidworks or equivalent CAD software
  • Experience with ERP systems. Epicor preferred.
  • Must possess strong data capture and analysis capabilities.
  • Must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changes in priorities.
  • Must be fluent in speaking and reading English.
  • A basic knowledge of mechanics and a high mechanical aptitude are required to successfully perform the requirements of this role.
  • Previous experience in metal working or composite molding is a plus.
