Job Overview
The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations in an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role ensures products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with aerospace quality standards and customer requirements. The supervisor leads production teams, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates with engineering, quality, supply chain, and maintenance to achieve operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily manufacturing operations to meet production schedules and delivery commitments.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of production operators and technicians.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
- Monitor production performance, including productivity, quality, scrap, and downtime.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards such as AS9100, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues.
- Conduct shift meetings and communicate production goals and performance expectations.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Investigate production problems and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Manage employee attendance, scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
- Support inventory accuracy, material flow, and work order completion.
- Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and configuration control for aerospace products.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Proven factory experience with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly line operations
- Mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools
- Valid forklift certification or experience operating forklifts safely in a warehouse or manufacturing setting
- Prior warehouse experience or familiarity with warehouse procedures is preferred
- Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions and document processes accurately
- Knowledge of manufacturing safety regulations and best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–7 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in aerospace or defense.
- 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, composites, sheet metal, or precision manufacturing.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, etc.).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AS9100 quality systems.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
- Knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and statistical process control (SPC).
- Familiarity with FAA, NADCAP, or customer-specific aerospace requirements.
- Experience leading Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects.
