General Function
The Instructor is a member of the ranked faculty whose duties require effectiveness in teaching, a commitment to staying current with their discipline and appropriate pedagogies, and a willingness to serve the academic unit, college and/or University. The Instructor's teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. Effective January 1 2007, the Instructor rank is a tenure-track appointment only for faculty appointed by the two-year open admissions campus at West Plains and the Greenwood Laboratory School.
Description of Primary Duties
The successful candidate will teach a 15/15 credit hour teaching load based on student demand for agriculture courses. Instruction will be conducted using a variety of delivery methods, including but not limited to on-site, online, blended, and other instructional technologies to support student learning. The successful candidate will also create curriculum for assigned courses, complete student learning assessment reports for each course taught, advise students, and liaise with adjunct and dual credit agriculture faculty. The successful candidate is also expected to complete university and community service activities.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Instructor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook.
The master's degree is typically required with at least 18 hours in the appropriate field. Exceptions must be approved by the department/division, vice-chancellor of academic affairs, chancellor, and Board of Governors.
Additional Qualifications
M.S. in Agriculture, Agri-Business, or related field required.
Practical experience in farming, ranching, or other area of agriculture required.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching in college-level courses, workshops, or professional training settings required.
