Role: Patient Access Registrar responsible for admitting patients, verifying insurance, collecting demographic and financial information, and ensuring compliance with policies.
Key Duties: Assigns MRNs, conducts medical necessity checks, processes physician orders, provides patient instructions, and performs pre-registration activities including inbound/outbound calls.
Operates the telephone switchboard, maintains high customer service standards, and conducts account audits to ensure accuracy.
Explains consent forms, distributes patient education materials, verifies insurance eligibility, and screens medical necessity using ABN software.
Handles point-of-service collections, reviews accounts for completeness, and may assist with other facility phone duties.
Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or GED preferred; must be at least 18.
Physical ability to move freely and lift up to 50 pounds.
Strong communication skills for patient and staff interactions, with a focus on customer service.
Ability to adhere to compliance standards and department-specific competencies.
Work Environment: Climate-controlled office with movement throughout the facility, frequent phone communication, and collaboration with healthcare providers.
