We are seeking a dynamic and welcoming Front Desk Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our healthcare facility. Duties

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, creating a friendly and professional environment at the front desk
  • Verify patient insurance coverage through insurance verification processes, including Medicare and private insurers
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using medical scheduling software such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently and professionally
  • Collect patient information accurately during intake processes and update electronic health records (EHR systems) like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
  • Maintain and organize medical records, ensuring proper filing, documentation review, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with billing procedures by understanding medical coding including CPT, ICD-9/10 codes, and supporting medical billing tasks
  • Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as preparing care plans, reviewing documentation, and handling clerical duties like typing reports and data entry using Microsoft Office tools
  • Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers to ensure timely follow-up and care continuity
  • Perform office management duties including inventory management of office supplies and maintaining a clean, organized front desk area

Experience

  • Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth is essential
  • Prior experience with dental or clinic reception roles is advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures is required
  • Demonstrated ability to handle insurance verification processes confidently
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on patient service excellence and professional phone etiquette
  • Ability to manage multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining composure in fast-paced environments
  • Previous clerical experience involving filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and document review is desirable
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient privacy at all times
