About the Role: Surgical RN
The Pre-Op Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals preparing for surgical or procedural interventions. This position is responsible for completing thorough pre-op assessments, delivering compassionate patient education, ensuring safety standards, and coordinating care to support an efficient and exceptional patient experience.
Patient Assessment & Preparation
Education & Licensure
Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, blood or body fluid, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a surgical operating room environment.
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected or normal vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working irregular hours.

About the Role: Surgical RN
The Pre-Op Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals preparing for surgical or procedural interventions. This position is responsible for completing thorough pre-op assessments, delivering compassionate patient education, ensuring safety standards, and coordinating care to support an efficient and exceptional patient experience.
Patient Assessment & Preparation
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments, including medical history, medication review, allergies, and vital signs.
- Verify pre-op orders, lab results, diagnostic tests, and surgical consents.
- Identify potential risks or complications and communicate concerns to the surgical and anesthesia teams.
- Verify pre-op testing and lab results such as CBC, EKG, pregnancy tests, or imaging as required.
- Review surgical consents, confirm procedure details, and document all necessary pre-op information within the EMR
- Provide clear, empathetic education regarding the surgical process, anesthesia expectations, postoperative care, and discharge instructions as appropriate.
- Address patient questions or concerns to promote understanding and reduce anxiety.
- Educate family members or caregivers on pre- and post-op responsibilities when applicable.
- Provide personalized education about the planned procedure, anesthesia expectations, recovery process, and postoperative care instructions specific to plastic surgery.
- Address patient concerns related to cosmetic outcomes, scarring, pain management, and recovery timelines.
- Offer emotional reassurance and guidance to patients undergoing elective aesthetic procedures
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, PACU staff, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient flow.
- Communicate changes in patient status promptly and accurately.
- Confirm all required documentation, consents, implants, and equipment are ready for the procedure.
- Adhere to infection control practices, patient identification protocols, and safety checklists.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., AAAASF, Joint Commission, state board requirements).
- Ensure accurate and timely charting in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings.
- Maintain required competencies, certifications, and continued education.
- Support perioperative operations with additional duties as needed.
Education & Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
- Current BLS certification (ACLS and/or PALS preferred depending on patient population).
- Plastic Surgery experience preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience in surgical services, perioperative nursing, critical care, or emergency nursing preferred.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and patient-education abilities.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Kind, compassionate, and professional demeanor suitable for a boutique or high-touch patient environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and trust with cosmetic patients.
