Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machining Cost Estimator (Quoting) to to support RFQs and cost estimating for precision-machined components. This role plays a critical part in aligning engineering, operations, and commercial strategy to support profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate, timely, and competitive quotes for CNC machined and assembled components
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer requirements
- Estimate:
- Machine time (CNC milling, turning, multi-axis)
- Labor and setup
- Materials (including castings and forgings)
- Tooling and fixturing
- Outside processes (heat treat, plating, coatings, etc.)
- Process change
- Analyze casting-to-machining strategies to optimize cost and manufacturability
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Sales to validate assumptions and timelines
- Support DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and cost reduction initiatives
- Participate in RFQ reviews, bid strategy, and margin analysis
- Maintain and improve cost models, templates, and estimating standards
Required Qualifications
- 6 years of cost estimating experience in production machining and assembly environments (required)
- Strong expertise in:
- CNC machining (milling, turning, multi-axis)
- Casting and machining processes (must have)
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with Mastercam or similar CAM software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and regulated manufacturing environments
- Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume production
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AS9100 and/or ISO 13485
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or medical manufacturing
- ERP/MRP systems
Work Environment
- On-site role in a precision machining facility
- Exposure to advanced CNC operations and engineering teams
