This position involves conducting detailed inspections using various precision measuring tools and techniques to verify product conformity to specifications. The inspector will perform First Article Inspections to validate new or modified production processes, ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards. By identifying defects or deviations early in the assembly line, the Quality Inspector helps prevent costly rework and maintains the integrity of the manufacturing process. Ultimately, this role supports continuous improvement initiatives by providing accurate quality data and feedback to production and engineering teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with specialized training in quality inspection or manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools including micrometers and optical comparators.

  • Experience working in aerospace manufacturing or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of assembly line operations and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Advanced training in precision measurement technologies and optical inspection equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform First Article Inspections on new or revised parts to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and optical comparators to conduct dimensional inspections.
  • Conduct visual inspections and use optical comparators to detect surface defects or inconsistencies in components.
  • Monitor assembly line processes to ensure ongoing adherence to quality standards and identify any deviations promptly.
  • Document inspection results accurately and communicate findings to quality assurance and production teams for corrective actions.

Skills:

The Quality Inspector applies their expertise in First Article Inspection to validate new production processes, ensuring initial parts meet all specifications. Precision measuring skills, including the use of micrometers and optical comparators, are essential for accurately assessing component dimensions and surface quality. Visual inspection skills enable the identification of defects that may not be measurable but affect product integrity. Working closely with assembly line teams, the inspector uses their knowledge to monitor ongoing production quality and quickly address any issues. Additionally, strong documentation and communication skills are vital for reporting inspection results and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous quality improvements.
