Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – 1:1 Elementary School Care
Pay: $29 - $32 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide individualized nursing care for an elementary school student with medical needs. The LPN will support the student’s health, safety, and participation throughout the school day while collaborating with the school nurse, educational staff, and family.
Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 nursing care according to the student’s individualized healthcare plan and provider orders.
Monitor the student’s health and promptly communicate changes or concerns to the appropriate school personnel and family.
Student care may include suctioning and gastrostomy tube (G-tube) support, including prescribed feedings, medication administration, and site care.
Administer medications and treatments as ordered and maintain accurate documentation.
Assist with mobility, positioning, toileting, and other personal care needs as outlined in the student’s care plan.
Accompany the student during classroom activities, transitions, meals, and other school activities as assigned.
Recognize and respond to medical concerns and emergencies according to the student’s emergency care plan and school procedures.
Collaborate with the supervising RN or school nurse to support continuity of care.
Maintain student confidentiality and follow school policies and applicable nursing practice requirements.
Qualifications
Current, active LPN license in the state of employment.
Current CPR/BLS certification.
Experience caring for pediatric patients or students with complex medical needs preferred.
Demonstrated competency in suctioning and G-tube care appropriate to the student’s needs, provider orders, and LPN scope of practice.
Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and provide patient, attentive care in an elementary school setting.
Successful completion of required background checks and school onboarding requirements.
Schedule
School-day hours following the assigned elementary school’s calendar. Specific hours and student care needs will be discussed during the interview process.
