Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, IL
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 1st Shift (Day Hours)
Compensation: $85,000 – $110,000
Employment Type: Direct Hire
A well-established, growing manufacturer in the Chicagoland area is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support and optimize high-precision production processes within a highly automated environment.
This is a unique opportunity to join a company that designs and builds much of its own equipment in-house, offering engineers rare exposure to custom machinery, automation integration, and advanced metal forming processes. Key Responsibilities
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and throughput
• Support capital equipment (CAPEX) projects including equipment upgrades and automation integration
• Work hands-on on the production floor to troubleshoot processes and implement improvements
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, quality, and engineering teams
• Analyze production data, KPIs, and process performance to identify improvement opportunities
• Ensure manufacturing processes meet strict quality and regulatory standards
• Assist with equipment layout, process development, and optimization of manufacturing systems
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
• 4–7 years of manufacturing engineering experience
• Background in continuous improvement, process optimization, or capital projects
• Experience in metal manufacturing, automation, or industrial production environments
• Familiarity with ISO, IATF, or similar quality standards
• Hands-on, floor-focused mindset with strong problem-solving ability
Preferred:
• Experience with automation, packaging systems, or machine design
• Exposure to metal forming or secondary processes (heat treating, coating, etc.)
• CAD experience (layout/design support)
