Team Lead

Position Summary

The Team Lead is responsible for supporting daily production operations while providing leadership and guidance to a team of manufacturing employees. This role serves as a working leader on the production floor, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and operational goals are consistently achieved. The Team Lead assists with training, workflow coordination, problem-solving, and communication between employees and management.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

  • Lead and support daily production activities to ensure schedules and customer requirements are met.

  • Coordinate workflow and prioritize tasks to maximize efficiency and productivity.

  • Assist with machine setups, troubleshooting, and operational issues as needed.

  • Monitor production performance and address bottlenecks or quality concerns.

  • Ensure work is completed according to established procedures and quality standards.

  • Support equipment maintenance activities and report equipment issues promptly.

  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.

Team Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day direction, support, and coaching to production employees.

  • Train and onboard new team members on company processes, safety procedures, and job responsibilities.

  • Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment.

  • Assist in monitoring employee attendance, performance, and productivity.

  • Communicate department goals, priorities, and expectations clearly to team members.

  • Support employee development through coaching, feedback, and cross-training opportunities.

  • Serve as a resource for resolving production and personnel-related issues.

Quality & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement throughout the department.

  • Monitor product quality and ensure adherence to customer and company specifications.

  • Participate in investigations related to quality concerns, safety incidents, or process improvements.

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas following established housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • 3 years of manufacturing or production experience required.

  • Previous experience in a lead, trainer, or informal leadership role preferred.

  • Experience operating manufacturing equipment and reading production documentation preferred.

  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to motivate and develop team members.

  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and production documents.

  • Proficiency with measuring tools and quality inspection processes.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of workplace safety standards and best practices.

  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and communication.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.

Schedule

  • Full-time position.

  • Overtime may be required based on production demands.
