What success looks like
Own the setup. Install, align, and lock punches and dies in the turret. Align and clamp the workpiece to the table and end gauges. Set the forward and lateral indicators to the specified dimensions.Run with confidence. Index the turret to the called-out tools and actuate the pedal to complete each step in the punch chart. Use the center punch to touch plate and scratch layout lines as needed.Read the plan. Interpret blueprints and operation sheets to determine the exact sequence of operations; compute punch charts from the drawings and produce features in nonmetallic materials when required.Prove the quality. Measure with dial/vernier calipers, micrometers, squares, and height gauges per AQL and work instructions. If dimensions drift or a setup isn’t right, notify a supervisor or setup specialist immediately.Document everything. Keep precise part counts (good and scrap), complete production paperwork, and maintain entries in the Traverse Manufacturing System.Care for the craft. Maintain tools, instruments, and equipment in top condition, report malfunctions as soon as they appear, and keep your area clean, orderly, and safe.Must-haves
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of relevant experience/training with turret punch presses
- Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagrammed instructions; recognize dimensional/setup problems and seek assistance
- Shop math skills: fractions, decimals, whole numbers, units of measure
- Blueprint and operation sheet fluency
- Proven setup and operation of a Turret Punch Press; accurate data entry/maintenance in the Traverse Manufacturing System
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
