Aedas Seattle is seeking a Laboratory Architect (5–7 Years of Experience) to support the design, programming, and technical delivery of complex life science, biotechnology, and institutional projects.

This position is ideal for an ambitious architect looking to take ownership of specialized laboratory spaces within a collaborative team. The role requires a strong designer who has already built a foundation in technical laboratory design and wants to deepen their expertise in advanced, high-performance environments while contributing to an earnest, vibrant studio culture.


Responsibilities:

  • Foster collaborative working relationships with project team members, including clients and consultants
  • Collaborate directly with researchers and end users throughout laboratory planning and design
  • Manage time toward project deadlines and deliverables
  • Ensure clear, consistent communication with project stakeholders
  • Generate and assemble contract document sets including design, permit, and construction documents
  • Maintain quality control and ensure project documentation meets firm standards
  • Support marketing and business development efforts, including proposal development and client presentations


Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of professional architecture experience, with at least 3 years dedicated directly to life science and research environments
  • Experience with biology research, laboratory design and planning, equipment tracking, and familiarity with laboratory casework required
  • Experience with specialty laboratory spaces (vivarium, chemistry, GMP, pharmaceutical research, process/manufacturing facilities, and/or science teaching) a plus
  • Knowledge of the Seattle building code, ADA, and experience with Puget Sound region permitting processes required
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and positively contribute to project teams
  • Strong organizational skills and thorough understanding of design, permitting and construction processes
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainable design practices, project delivery, and construction processes
  • Ability to work on multiple complex projects concurrently
  • Proficiency in AutoDesk software, particularly Revit, required
  • Digital visualization and graphics skills (Rhino, Grasshopper, Photoshop, vRay, Enscape, etc.) a plus
  • Professional Registration (or actively pursuing)
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Aedas Seattle does not offer visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, OPT extension) for this position.
