Upfit Technician

SUMMARY:

The Upfit Technician is responsible for the consistent and quality upfit installation and service repairs on various truck bodies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Complete consistent and quality installs of truck accessories with attention to detail, including but not limited to lift gates, shelving unites, tool boxes, body components, cranes and lighting systems

·        Prepare chassis for truck body installation, such as hitch components, hitch plates, fuel system compotents, electrical wiring, sheer bars, etc...

·        Read and follow detailed work/sales orders, installation drawings, schematics or blueprints

·        Perform basic troubleshooting

·        Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required for installations and service repairs

·        Complete custom warranty service repairs on commercial vehicles

·        Document cause and corrections completed for all warranty and service repairs

·        Self-check work and inspect prior processes

·        Complete inspection check sheet

·        Initiate process improvements to support completing shop goals

·        Fabricate custom mounting brackets

·        Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        HS Diploma or GED required

·        Able to read and use a tape measure

·        Basic wiring knowledge (cutting, stripping, and connecting)

·        Experience in a service shop environment preferred

·        Experience with vehicle mechanics, including electrical systems, hydraulics and basic fabrication techniques

·        Welding experience a plus

·        Dependable, self starter with a proven track record of being reliable

·        Team oriented along with a positive attitude

·        May be required to accumulate tools and equipment to perform assigned tasks

·        Work overtime as needed
