A privately held, owner-led operating company is seeking a dynamic, hands-on COO / VP Operations to lead corporate operations and drive organizational effectiveness across the business.
This role serves as a strategic and operational partner to ownership, responsible for elevating day-to-day operations, strengthening internal processes, and ensuring alignment across teams. The COO / VP Operations will play a critical leadership role in professionalizing the organization while maintaining its entrepreneurial, relationship-driven culture.
Core Responsibilities:
Executive & Operational Leadership
- Partner with ownership to define and execute strategic initiatives that support company growth and operational excellence
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the corporate office and broader organization, ensuring efficiency and consistency
- Act as a senior leader across the business, stepping in to run operations in the absence of ownership
- Build structure and accountability across teams, reinforcing performance expectations and communication standards
- Lead cross-functional process improvements with a focus on scalability, efficiency, and technology optimization
Organizational Leadership & People Strategy
- Provide high-level oversight of HR and people-related functions, including employee relations, performance management, and organizational planning
- Establish and enforce company policies, procedures, and best practices to eliminate ambiguity and improve consistency
- Partner with leadership on hiring strategy and team structure.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and engagement while maintaining a collaborative, non-corporate environment
- Serve as a trusted advisor to ownership on organizational challenges, team dynamics, and growth planning
Operations & Infrastructure
- Create and implement standardized processes across departments to improve workflow and execution
- Oversee vendor relationships and external service providers, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness
- Identify opportunities to enhance systems, reporting, and internal infrastructure
- Support business growth initiatives, including onboarding new assets and integrating operational processes
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 8–12 years of progressive experience in operations leadership roles (COO, Head of Operations, VP/Director of Operations, or similar)
- Experience operating within small to mid-sized, owner-led or entrepreneurial organizations.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive accountability, implement structure, and influence at all levels
- Hands-on operator with the ability to balance strategic thinking and day-to-day execution
- Experience professionalizing operations, improving processes, and scaling organizations
- Strong understanding of HR strategy and organizational leadership
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team leadership skills
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment
Base Salary: $185-235k plus bonus and benefits
