- Shift: 3-12 hour shifts
- Performs airway maintenance, including manual resuscitators, suctioning, intubation, extubation, and tracheostomy tube changes per facility needs.
- Delivers inhaled medications, bronchial hygiene therapy, and lung expansion therapy, and manages patients receiving inhaled gases.
- Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely.
- Responds to Code Blue emergencies immediately, providing CPR according to American Heart Association guidelines.
- Assesses and makes appropriate decisions and interventions according to patient evaluation and needs.

Duties
- Provide advanced respiratory therapy interventions for patients across various units including ICU, emergency, pediatrics, and trauma centers.
- Manage ventilator settings and monitor patients’ vital signs, ensuring optimal respiratory function and safety.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physiology and anatomy evaluations, to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Administer medications related to respiratory care while adhering to hospital protocols and medical terminology standards.
- Perform airway management procedures such as intubation and suctioning with precision and confidence.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care, outpatient clinics, and inpatient units to coordinate respiratory treatments effectively.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, ventilator parameters, and medication administration in compliance with hospital policies.
Skills
- Extensive experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Proficiency in respiratory therapy techniques including ventilator management and airway procedures.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to respiratory care, and medical terminology.
- Ability to perform patient assessments accurately in diverse settings such as inpatient wards or outpatient clinics.
- Critical care experience with a focus on acute care environments requiring rapid decision-making and intervention.
- Familiarity with Geriatrics and Pediatrics populations to tailor respiratory treatments appropriately.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are preferred.
