Project Application Engineer

Job Title: Project Application Engineer Location(s): Milpitas, CA - Onsite Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 About this position: Advantech is seeking a Project Application Engineer to play a key role in bridging technical expertise with customer-focused support. This position combines both administrative and engineering responsibilities to assist the sales team in developing tailored solutions using Advantech’s automation computing hardware and supporting technologies. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and customers to design, configure, and maintain project-specific applications that meet unique business needs. By ensuring the successful implementation and ongoing support of these solutions, you will help secure new opportunities and strengthen long-term customer relationships. Responsibilities:

• Administer processes to ensure completion of specifications, documentation, compliance requirements, and project life cycle record keeping.
• Ensure adherence to Advantech ISO procedures.
• Thorough understanding of standard PC components and system configurations.

• Familiarity with servers and server chassis components, RAID, GPU, AMT, IPMI is desirable.
• Maintain and update system configuration documents for project-based business.
• Support project success through cross-department collaboration, timely issue resolution, and efficient execution of tasks within deadlines set by the Project Manager.
• Assist the Project Manager in coordinating prototype systems and proof-of-concept solutions, including aligning with Advantech production procedures and collaborating with production teams.
• Review initial system configurations and bills of materials for quoting and support administration of periodic configuration changes to ensure accuracy before release to production or customers.
• Partner with Project and Sales Management teams to drive continuous improvement in the project sales process.
• Provide first-level application engineering support for project-based systems and components, including assessment of RMA requests, issue replication, and root cause analysis.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Thorough understanding of standard PC components and system configurations.
• Knowledge of various computer operating systems.
• Basic understanding of Ethernet networking, including wireless.
• Familiarity with industrial automation concepts such as PLCs, HMIs, and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus).
• Prior experience with “Copy Exact” projects is desirable.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset, while also capable of working independently as a self-starter.
• Willingness to travel up to 5%.
