Staff Supplier Quality Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to strengthen our supplier quality processes and ensure our supply chain consistently delivers high-quality products. In this role, you will take ownership of supplier quality initiatives. You will work directly with suppliers to resolve issues, drive corrective actions, and communicate requirements, while also performing supplier audits and contributing to larger, moderately complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead supplier corrective action activities (SCARs) by driving root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, and verifying effectiveness.
- Communicate quality and technical requirements clearly to suppliers, ensuring alignment with customer, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments, both independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
- Support MRB activities and lead supplier engagement to resolve nonconforming material issues.
- Partner with suppliers to resolve documentation gaps, such as certifications, inspection records, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor, track, and report supplier performance metrics; develop action plans for underperforming suppliers.
- Collaborate across engineering, supply chain, and operations to ensure quality issues are resolved and supplier capabilities are aligned with program needs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within supplier quality systems and processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in supplier quality engineering, quality assurance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent).
- Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspections.
- Experience with supplier corrective actions, audits, and root cause analysis tools.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills for working directly with suppliers and internal teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or quality systems is a plus.
Preferred / Desirable Experience
- Background in DoD sub-tier supplier management.
- Familiarity with metal forming, welding, coatings, or electromechanical assembly.
- Experience in highly regulated industries (aerospace, defense, medical device, or similar).
