Senior Medical Affairs Specialist – Global Medical Communications
Location: Acton, MA
Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite
Pay Rate: Up to approximately $87/hour
Position Overview
A global medical technology organization is seeking a Senior Medical Affairs Specialist to support Global Medical Communications initiatives focused on diabetes care and diabetes technology.
Reporting to a senior Medical Affairs leader, this individual will leverage clinical, scientific, and disease-state expertise to communicate the value of clinical evidence across internal and external audiences. The position will partner closely with Clinical, Regulatory, Commercial, and other cross-functional teams to support medical information, evidence dissemination, regulatory submissions, scientific communications, and strategic Medical Affairs initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of diabetes, insulin delivery technologies, continuous glucose monitoring, automated insulin delivery systems, and related digital health solutions, along with experience evaluating clinical evidence and translating complex scientific information into clear, compliant communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver scientifically accurate medical responses to healthcare provider inquiries, including unsolicited and off-label questions, in accordance with applicable global requirements.
- Review global clinical and promotional materials for medical and scientific accuracy, appropriate claims, compliance, and alignment with regional regulations and industry standards.
- Analyze clinical evidence, disease-state literature, treatment guidelines, and emerging diabetes technologies to support Medical Affairs, product, regulatory, and commercial strategies.
- Contribute to evidence-generation planning intended to:
- Support product innovation
- Expand clinical claims and indications
- Address evidence gaps
- Meet regulatory and scientific requirements
- Develop and execute scientific data-dissemination plans for internal and external audiences.
- Translate complex clinical data into clear, audience-appropriate communications for:
- Healthcare professionals
- Patients and caregivers
- Regulatory bodies
- Internal business partners
- Executive and investor audiences
- Partner with Clinical and Regulatory Affairs teams to develop clinical summaries and supporting documentation for global regulatory submissions.
- Collaborate with external vendors to implement and optimize medical information or clinical data-management systems.
- Support development and maintenance of Medical Affairs quality standards, procedures, and compliant operating practices.
- Develop and execute scientific-congress strategies for international, national, and regional conferences.
- Support congress activities including presentations, scientific reports, medical information booths, and dissemination materials.
- Maintain awareness of evolving standards of care, clinical evidence, and diabetes technology trends.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Medical Affairs interns or junior team members.
- Lead or support cross-functional Medical Affairs projects with limited supervision.
Medical Information & Scientific Communications
- Serve as a scientific resource for global Medical Affairs communications.
- Interpret complex clinical evidence and identify key scientific messages.
- Ensure medical communications are scientifically balanced, accurate, and appropriately supported by available evidence.
- Support efficient and compliant delivery of Medical Information responses to healthcare professionals.
- Adapt communications to local regulatory requirements, market practices, and audience needs.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify unmet scientific-information needs and develop appropriate communication strategies.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related, clinical, scientific, or related discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in a clinical, research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical-device setting.
- Strong experience interpreting clinical evidence and translating scientific information for diverse audiences.
- Experience managing projects in a cross-functional environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage priorities and deliver projects with limited supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and apply sound scientific judgment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or other advanced health/science degree.
- Clinical credentials such as:
- RN
- RD
- PA
- NP
- PharmD
- Diabetes education certification such as CDCES or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical-device industry.
- Experience working in a global Medical Affairs environment.
- Clinical or scientific experience related to:
- Diabetes
- Insulin pumps
- Automated insulin delivery systems
- Continuous glucose monitoring systems
- Diabetes data-management platforms
- Familiarity with global healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements.
