Pay Rate: Up to $87.00/hour or about $177,500 a year

Position Overview

The Senior Medical Affairs Specialist will report to the Senior Manager of Medical Affairs, Global Medical Communications and will leverage clinical and disease-state expertise to communicate the clinical value of scientific data related to diabetes technologies.

This individual will collaborate closely with Clinical, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Commercial teams to support medical communications, evidence generation, regulatory initiatives, and the appropriate use of diabetes technology products.

The ideal candidate has experience in Medical Affairs, clinical research, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices, with a strong ability to critically evaluate clinical evidence and translate complex scientific information for diverse audiences. Experience with diabetes and diabetes technologies, including insulin pumps, automated insulin delivery systems, and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), is highly desirable.

This position requires a detail-oriented, proactive professional with strong scientific acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to independently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver scientifically accurate medical responses to healthcare providers' off-label inquiries on a global scale while adhering to applicable regional regulations, local requirements, and company standards.
• Review global clinical and promotional materials to ensure content is medically and scientifically accurate, compliant, and consistent with applicable regulatory and industry guidelines.
• Support the development of evidence-generation strategies designed to generate meaningful clinical data, advance innovation, support potential claims and indication expansion, and satisfy regulatory requirements.
• Develop and execute scientific and clinical data dissemination plans for internal and external audiences, including healthcare professionals, people with diabetes, investors, and regulatory agencies.
• Critically evaluate scientific evidence related to diabetes therapies, standards of care, and diabetes technologies to help inform product development, commercial strategy, and regulatory activities.
• Collaborate with Clinical and Regulatory Affairs teams to develop clinical summaries and scientific content for global regulatory submissions.
• Coordinate with external vendors on the implementation and optimization of medical information and data-management systems while ensuring compliance requirements are met.
• Develop and maintain clinical quality standards and procedures to ensure Medical Affairs activities reflect current practices and global requirements.
• Plan and execute Medical Affairs activities for international, national, and local scientific conferences, including scientific presentations, reports, and medical information booths.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure clinical and scientific information is communicated accurately and addresses the needs of healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve the delivery of global medical information and recommend best practices for responding to healthcare provider inquiries.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to Medical Affairs interns.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry.
• Experience developing or reviewing medical information responses, off-label scientific communications, promotional materials, or clinical/regulatory content.
• Knowledge of global Medical Affairs practices and requirements for communicating clinical information to healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders.
• Clinical or scientific experience related to diabetes.
• Knowledge of diabetes technologies, including:
• Automated insulin delivery systems
• Insulin pumps
• Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems
• Diabetes data-management systems
• Experience supporting scientific conferences, evidence-generation initiatives, clinical publications, or scientific data dissemination.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a health-related or scientific field required.
• Master's degree or other advanced degree preferred.
• Healthcare credentials such as RD, RN, PA, NP, or PharmD are preferred.
• Diabetes education certification such as CDCES/CDE is a plus.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in a clinical, pharmaceutical, medical device, research, or related scientific setting required.
• Doctorate-level education may substitute for some professional experience.
• 1–2 years of global Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry preferred.
• Clinical or scientific experience with diabetes and/or diabetes technologies is highly desirable.
