Now Hiring - Senior Machinist
Location: Menlo Park, CA
Schedule: 32-40 hours per week
Pay: $40-50 per hour
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Machinist / Model Maker to support advanced prototype and precision fabrication projects in a fast-paced engineering and research environment. This temporary position works closely with engineers and scientists to manufacture high-precision prototype parts, fixtures, tools, and functional models using manual and CNC machining equipment.
Responsibilities include CNC programming, machining setup, prototype fabrication, troubleshooting machining issues, optimizing tooling and processes, interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T specifications, and performing precision inspections using metrology equipment. Candidates will also support machine maintenance, shop safety, and workflow management for complex multi-stage projects.
Qualified candidates should have:
- 4 years of machining or model-making experience in a precision machine shop
- Strong CNC programming and G-code experience
- Experience with CNC mills, lathes, EDM, waterjet, and manual machining equipment
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software including SolidWorks, CAMWorks, Surfcam, or similar
- Ability to read blueprints, ASME Y14.5 standards, and GD&T specifications
- Experience working with metallic alloys, polymers, and prototype fabrication
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills
Experience with DMG-MORI, Fadal, ProtoTrak, Siemens 840D controllers, and precision prototype manufacturing is highly preferred.
