Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Contract)
Pay: $62.00-$81.70/hour
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and production of advanced electrical power systems for aerospace and lighter-than-air (LTA) vehicle applications. This contract opportunity is ideal for an experienced engineer with expertise in power distribution, controls, system integration, and aerospace-grade electrical design.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical and electronic systems for aerospace vehicles and ground support equipment.
- Lead electrical power system design, analysis, load studies, capacity planning, and optimization efforts.
- Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and production-ready engineering documentation.
- Support instrumentation, controls, communications systems, PLCs, VFDs, and power distribution systems.
- Participate in system integration, troubleshooting, validation, and first-article testing activities.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with customer, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program management teams.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Travel occasionally to North Carolina manufacturing facilities to support production and testing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10 years of electrical design engineering experience.
- Strong background in electrical power systems, transformers, power distribution, and system analysis.
- Experience creating manufacturing-ready engineering documentation.
- Hands-on experience with system integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Aerospace, aviation, defense, or related industry experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Active U.S. Secret Clearance is a plus but not required.
