Summary
Perform engineering work on electrical substation and transmission projects, including design, protection, and control systems. Work under a Professional Engineer (PE) to support design, documentation, project coordination, and site inspections.
Responsibilities
- Create and modify design documents: layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, relay panels, grounding, cable schedules, and bills of materials.
- Prepare/review scopes of work, RFPs/RFQs, budgets, schedules, and technical reports.
- Coordinate with teams, consultants, contractors, and supervisors; support site inspections.
- Lead procurement, evaluate bids, and recommend awards (senior/lead levels).
- Develop technical solutions, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions (lead level).
- Track project performance and ensure compliance with regulations.
Experience & Education
Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related field (ABET preferred). Non-ABET requires 2 extra years of relevant experience per level.
Experience:
- Engineer II: 2 years in substation/transmission engineering
- Senior Engineer: 4 years
- Lead Engineer: 6 years
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Texas Driver’s License (or obtain within 90 days).
- Engineer II: Texas E.I.T. or eligible within 12 months; PE eligibility required.
- Senior Engineer: Texas PE license (or obtain within 12 months).
- Lead Engineer: PE license PMP certification.
