Contracts Manager (Government & Production Programs)
Location: Lorton, VA (Hybrid)
Salary: Approximately $160,000 annually
We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead a small team supporting U.S. Government hardware development and production programs. This direct hire role is ideal for a hands-on leader with deep expertise in FAR/DFARS compliance, contract negotiations, and cradle-to-grave contract management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and oversee a team of 3-5 contract professionals
- Manage complex government contracts across development, low-rate, and full-rate production
- Serve as escalation point for contractual, delivery, and customer issues
- Partner cross-functionally with Program Management, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain
- Lead RFP analysis, proposal support, negotiations, and contract awards
- Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee contract performance, funding, modifications, and closeout activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field
- 10 years of government contracts experience (FAR/DFARS)
- Proven experience with T&M, FFP, and cost-reimbursable contracts
- Background in production-based programs (delivery, inspection, acceptance)
- Prior people management or team leadership experience
- Strong negotiation, risk management, and communication skills
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
Preferred
- NCMA certification or advanced degree
- Experience transitioning programs from development to production
Work Environment
- Hybrid schedule (2-3 days onsite; may vary based on business needs)
