Industrial Maintenance Technician (Union Millwright)

Position Summary
Seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician (Millwright) to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, modifying, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems to maximize safety, reliability, and operational performance.
This role requires an experienced, hands-on maintenance professional who can diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems, including legacy manufacturing equipment that may have limited technical documentation, OEM support, or readily available replacement parts. Successful candidates must possess strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Regular overtime, weekend work, call-ins, and off-shift work are required to support production and emergency maintenance needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment, machinery, and mechanical systems.
- Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Respond to equipment failures and production downtime events.
- Install, move, align, level, and commission machinery and production equipment.
- Perform mechanical repairs involving hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, and power transmission systems.
- Complete welding, cutting, fabrication, and general machine repair work.
- Support equipment upgrades, capital projects, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain equipment reliability while minimizing downtime and production interruptions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and hot work requirements.
- Document maintenance activities and complete work orders accurately and timely.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in industrial maintenance, millwright work, machine repair, manufacturing maintenance, heavy equipment repair, automotive maintenance, or related skilled trades.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with preventative maintenance practices.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, fabrication, and mechanical systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and attendance.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, vibration, and moving machinery.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and lifting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Pay Scale:
- $30/HR - $36/HR (depending on experience)

Schedule Requirements
This operations operates in a continuous manufacturing environment. Employees in this role must be available to:
- Work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- Work mandatory and voluntary overtime.
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations and equipment breakdowns.
- Support shutdowns, outages, and special projects as needed.
Regular attendance, dependability, and schedule flexibility are essential functions of this position.
Please note: This is for a 3rd shift position. This employee will most likely be trained for approximately 6 months on day shift, and then will move to 3rd shift.
