Advantage Tech is searching for a FiberTechnician to join a client's team based around Kansas City, Mo.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assures adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety rules.
- May serve as on-site point of contact. Acts as a customer liaison to identify unmet needs.
- Participates in the development and updating of maintenance processes and procedures for operations, system troubleshooting, testing and maintenance functions. This includes electrical, mechanical, cross-connect, building management, security, video, and building safety systems.
- May oversee contractor activities to ensure customer satisfaction and reliable day-to-day operations are achieved. A high degree of detail and frequent follow-up, at various levels is required.
- This position works closely with other ClientData Center employees, Clientemployees, Customer and Carriers.
- Responsible for site maintenance and documentation, including but not limited to Method of Procedures (MoPS), testing acceptance, cross connect/port assignments, Building Management System (BMS), Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system, access controlsystem,internal network and customer cross connect services.
- Conduct generator run and load tests, including event log entries.
- Conduct daily site walkthroughs including event log entries.
- Coordinate and perform company and customer hardware and software installations, software testing and acceptance, and structured wiring.
- Monitor, analyze and resolve mechanical, electrical, and monitoring issues in a timely manner with minimal supervision and guidance.

- Ability to follow procedures, handle concurrent assignments, able to work effectively under pressure.
- Self-motivated with the ability to make sound decisions under minimal supervision.

Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Computer/PC skills (Windows, Linux is a plus)
- Ability to travel locally and out-of-state between 40-60%
- Attention to detail
- Troubleshooting skills
- Basic network skills (routing, switching, Ethernet, RJ45, fiber)
Desired Knowledge and Experience:
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical and network systems specifically used in the data center industry.
- Previous Operations, Maintenance, and Repair experience in a 24x7 operating environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems with diagnostics and a technical aptitude/proficiency.
- Familiarity with Building Management System (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system.
- Knowledge in enterprise servers and networking equipment.
- Summary
This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, monitoring, and site documentation for the client Optical/DWDM, IP/MPLS and Microwave network, and assisting in data center applications infrastructure and maintenance operations.
This position works closely with other employees, member companies, offnet providers, customers and equipment vendors.
Salary : $50,000
