Job Title – Position Description: Healthcare IT Business Analyst
Reports to: Director IT Systems
MISSION
The Healthcare IT Business Analyst at Advanced Urology is the bridge between clinical operations, administrative teams, and IT. The role focuses on improving and optimizing system utilization, data integrity, interoperability, and patient/user experiences to enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and compliance. They drive the design and implementation of healthcare IT systems continuous improvement efforts.
OUTCOMES
- Serve as the primary liaison between clinical/operational teams and IT for system-related initiatives
- Collaborate with providers, clinical staff, front office teams, revenue cycle, and operations/support departments to gather and document business requirements and translate into functional specifications
- Analyze workflows across scheduling, patient intake, clinical documentation, and billing to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
- Lead optimization and configuration of EHR/PM systems (e.g., eCW, Athenahealth or similar platforms) to improve usability and efficiency
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS guidelines, and payer-specific requirements
- Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and integrations across practice locations
- Lead or support user acceptance testing (UAT) and system validation during upgrades and implementation projects, and develop supporting technical documentation including workflows, system configurations, and integration mappings

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Information Systems, or related field
Previous Job Relevant Work Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in healthcare business analysis, preferably in a physician practice or specialty care setting
- Strong understanding of medical practice workflows, especially in revenue cycle management
- Experience with EHR/PM systems (e.g., eCW, Athenahealth, Epic, or similar)
- Knowledge of medical coding, billing processes, and payer interactions
- Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or related field)
- Deep expertise with eCW
- Lean/Six Sigma or PMI certifications, or comparable process improvement experience
