Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Shipboard Structural Supervisor to lead and oversee structural maintenance, repair, and construction activities on maritime vessels. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate shipboard structural activities including repairs, modifications, and new construction projects.
- Review construction drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical documents to ensure accurate execution of work.
- Manage teams of technicians and craftsmen, providing clear direction and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Utilize construction management software such as ProCore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, HeavyBid, and other relevant tools for project planning and tracking.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, verify compliance with federal construction safety regulations (OSHA), and ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Interpret technical schematics using tools like ohmmeters for electrical systems and other diagnostic equipment as needed.
- Coordinate construction schedules to optimize workflow while managing budgets and resources effectively.
- Review contracts and manage subcontractor relationships to ensure scope adherence and timely completion of work.
- Lead construction drawing review sessions to identify potential issues early and implement corrective actions swiftly.
- Enforce strict safety standards on board ships by conducting regular safety audits aligned with federal regulations.
- Maintain detailed documentation including incident reports, progress logs, inspection records, and project schedules.
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience 3 year in shipbuilding, ship repair, or maritime construction environments with a focus on structural work.
- Extensive knowledge of construction management practices including scheduling (Primavera P6), budgeting, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and quality assurance processes.
- Familiarity with construction management software such as ProCore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, HeavyBid is essential for project coordination.
- Strong understanding of federal construction safety regulations (OSHA) applicable to maritime environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively in high-pressure settings while maintaining safety standards.
- Hands-on experience with construction site activities including interpreting technical drawings and schematics using tools like ohmmeters or multimeters.
- Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
