Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Shipboard Pipefitter Supervisor to lead and oversee pipefitting operations on maritime vessels. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate pipefitting activities on ships, including pipe installation, assembly, maintenance, and repair of various piping systems such as plumbing, HVAC, fire sprinkler fitting, and pipeline systems
- Lead a team of pipefitters in performing MIG welding, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), TIG welding, soldering, tube bending, pipe threading, and other fabrication tasks with precision and adherence to safety protocols
- Read and interpret construction plans, schematics, blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to ensure accurate installation aligned with project specifications
- Ensure all work complies with industry standards including ASME codes & standards and NFPA regulations for fire safety systems
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers, hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment to verify proper fit-up and installation of piping components
- Enforce safety regulations on-site by promoting power tool safety practices and maintaining a safe working environment at all times
- Collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety compliance
Experience
- Proven experience 3 years in construction site environments with a focus on shipbuilding or maritime piping projects
- Extensive knowledge of pipefitting techniques including pipe threading, assembly, soldering, tube bending, and welding (MIG, FCAW, TIG) in accordance with industry standards
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings such as schematics and blueprints for complex piping systems
- Familiarity with NFPA standards related to fire sprinkler fitting and fire safety systems on ships
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using calipers, hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, and construction plans
- Knowledge of HVAC systems installation and maintenance within maritime or industrial settings is preferred
- Ability to work effectively on construction sites while adhering to all safety regulations; prior experience in manufacturing or pipeline projects is advantageous
