Gift Shop Clerk

JOB TITLE: Gift Shop Attendant (Seasonal, Part Time)

REPORTS TO: Director of Passenger Services

LOCATION: Thendara, NY

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Gift Shop Attendant is responsible for all sales transactions, as well as maintaining the appearance of displays and merchandise in the gift shop.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Ensure all guests are given responsive, friendly, and courteous service always

· Responsible for all gift shop displays and merchandise sales, and handling guest requests with the highest level of professionalism

· Responsible for stocking the gift shop

· Responsible for knowing all prices within the retail store

· Assist with counting and always maintaining inventory levels

· Works with the Director of Passenger Services to stock and display merchandise.

· Gift Shop attendants are responsible for handling large sums of money and high volumes of guests; ability to work quickly and accurately is a must.

· Follows correct cash handling procedures, maintains accurate inventory controls

· Maintains a clean work environment

· Works closely with team members to maintain a clean, safe, friendly environment for all staff and guests.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

This is a seasonal hourly position with a work schedule that is operations dependent. On occasion, additional hours will be required. The job requires frequent interaction with the traveling public.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

· Must be 16 years of age or older

· Basic math skills applied to sales and money management

· Flexible Schedule. Must be prepared to work weekends and holidays

· Ability to lift 25 pounds

Preferred:

· Retail experience on a point-of-sale terminal

· Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

· Experience in a fast-paced environment

· Enjoy working with the public, strong sense of customer service

Pay: From $16.50 per hour
