Under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing and managing preventative maintenance schedules and repair tasks for facility equipment and material handling systems. This role involves working with advanced conveyor and sortation systems, ensuring they meet operational and production goals. A strong aptitude for mechanical troubleshooting, machine shop equipment, and power tools is essential, along with the ability to perform general facility maintenance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members to ensure optimal performance of facility and material handling equipment with minimal downtime.
- Diagnose and repair equipment issues in the Distribution Center.
- Assist in executing preventive maintenance schedules, including lubrication, part replacements, and equipment assembly/disassembly.
- Operate industrial machinery and tools to conduct maintenance and repairs.
- Support mechanical modification projects and installations of new conveyor system technology.
- Independently maintain and repair mechanical equipment related to conveyor and sortation systems.
- Execute routine maintenance tasks while learning advanced assignments from Maintenance Management.
- Propose improvements to preventive maintenance programs to enhance equipment performance.
- Comply with Environmental, Safety, and Health policies during all assignments.
- Complete work orders and general warehouse maintenance tasks as needed.
- Meet project deadlines and adhere to specified timelines under supervision.
- Maintain a preventive maintenance program, tracking labor hours and holding mechanics accountable.
- Perform general housekeeping and maintain clean work areas.
- Respond to downtime events, including nights, weekends, and split shifts as required.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Experience:
- 1-3 years of progressive experience in an automated distribution warehouse with large-volume operations.
- Familiarity with equipment such as forklifts, boom trucks, and scissor lifts (certification required upon hire).
- Experience with startup and troubleshooting of automated distribution systems.
- Forklift maintenance experience preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Experience with building automation systems (e.g., Dematic sorter preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting skills for automated systems using PLCs and microprocessors.
- Ability to interpret CAD layouts, IPB diagrams, and electrical circuit diagrams.
- Proficiency with CMMS software and basic PC applications (Excel, Word).

This role operates in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Physical requirements include regular standing, walking, lifting/moving up to 50 pounds, and using hands and tools. The role may also involve climbing, balancing, kneeling, and crouching.
