We’re looking for a committed physician to serve as Medical Director at the State Veterans Nursing Home in Collins, Mississippi. In this role you’ll be the clinical lead supporting residents’ ongoing medical needs — providing on-site assessments and exams, developing and overseeing treatment plans, managing medications, reviewing care plans, assisting with discharges, and ensuring clear, compliant clinical documentation.
What you’ll do
- Deliver timely primary medical services and on-site resident care (up to 40 hours per week on site, excluding weekends).
- Provide medical oversight and coverage that meets regulatory requirements and supports continuity of care.
- Perform medical assessments, physical examinations, medication management, and treatment planning.
- Review and update resident care plans and support safe, coordinated discharges.
- Supervise and collaborate with nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and the interdisciplinary clinical team.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations.

Who we’re seeking
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Current, unrestricted Mississippi medical license
- Board certified
- DEA registration and authority to prescribe controlled substances
- Minimum 3–5 years clinical experience, ideally in long-term care, geriatrics, or skilled nursing
- Prior leadership or Medical Director experience overseeing clinical operations and providers
- Familiarity with CMS, VA, Mississippi Department of Health, and nursing facility regulations
- Strong skills in supervision, collaboration, and interdisciplinary teamwork
