We’re seeking a Hematology/Oncology physician to cover an FMLA absence in Grand Rapids, MI. This locum tenens role includes both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities and runs from Oct 1, 2025 through Dec 31, 2026. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. for outpatient clinics with after-hours call; call is shared 1:5.
What you’ll do
- Provide inpatient hematology/oncology consults and daily rounding.
- Manage an outpatient clinic and infusion center (patient mix is predominantly hematology).
- Participate in a shared call pool (1:5) with APP support available after hours.
- Actively participate in tumor board.
- Order diagnostic testing and imaging, prescribe medications, and perform procedures including bone marrow biopsies and FNAs.
Patient and volume details
- Adult and geriatric population.
- Hospital volume: ~10–15 patients/day.
- Outpatient volume: ~15 patients/day.
- Case mix: >90% hematology (benign and malignant), <10% solid tumor oncology.
Facility & support
- EMR: Epic.
- Multidisciplinary backup: radiation oncology and APPs.
- APP support: 5 inpatient, 6 outpatient.
- Malpractice, travel, and lodging covered.
Requirements & logistics
- Board certified in Hematology & Oncology.
- Active Michigan license preferred; candidates who need to obtain a license will be considered.
- BLS required.
- Hospital privileges required; credentialing typically takes 90–120 days.
- Required procedures: FNA/biopsy.
