Position: Director of Operations

Location: Branchburg, NJ (Fully on site)

Salary: $175K - $200K Bonus

Growing Civil Engineering & Construction Provider Seeks a New Director of Operations to join their team.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the estimating team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and competitiveness of all bid submissions.
• Own the bid intake process, evaluating opportunities & serve as the key point of contact to external contractors.
• Review and approve all estimates, proposals prior to submission, ensuring margin targets, scope of work and risk management standards are met.
• Develop and refine estimating processes, templates, and tools to improve speed and accuracy.
• Oversee the project management function.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to customer specifications.
• Establish and maintain project management standards, workflows, and reporting cadences. Develop SOPs.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex project issues involving customers, subcontractors, or internal teams.
• Support the supply chain process, Sales Order & fulfillment dates for delivery
• Manage field service operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and quality assurance for installation and service work.
• Ensure field teams are properly trained, equipped, and operating safely in compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
• Coordinate with the estimating and project management teams to ensure seamless handoff from sale to field execution.
• Oversee warehouse, supply chain & logistics operations teams
• Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and business decision-making.
• Work across the production, supply chain, and administrative teams to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Develop and track operational KPIs and dashboards to provide visibility into performance across all areas of responsibility.
• Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer experience.
• Support the CEO in planning and executing initiatives tied to company growth and strategic objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or related field required
• MBA or Advanced degree in relevant field preferred
• Minimum 10 years in traffic signal, ITS or electrical contracting/distribution, with 5 leading multi-functional teams (estimating-field service etc.)
• Has experience personally reviewing and approving bids for NJDOT/county/municipal signal works; knows controllers, cabinets, detection, and communications.
• Experience with municipal, state DOT, or contractor customer bases.
